چکیده

Quantification of proteinuria by the collection of 24 hour urine sample is inconvenient and often unreliable due to the difficulty in accurately collecting a complete 24 hour sample in children. These problems suggest need for a more convenient and accurate method of urine protein estimation particularly in the outpatient setting(1). UP/UC ratio is a semiquantitative method for the estimation of proteinuria with only a few studies conducted in children(1,2). This study was done to evaluate the UP/UC ratio as a rapid and reliable test for the estimation of various ranges of proteinuria.

Quantification of Proteinuria with Urinary Protein to Osmolality Ratios in Children

Background: The ratio of urine protein to urine osmolality has recently been suggested as an accurate method to determine proteinuria.  Objective: We studied the correlation of urine protein to urine osmolality ratio with 24-hr urinary protein excretion. Methods: 150 children aged 0.11–17 years admitted to the Department of Pediatric Nephrology were included in this study. Early morning urine s...

ارزیابی کمی پروتئینوری با استفاده از نسبت پروتئین به کراتینین در نمونه‌های تصادفی ادرار افراد مبتلا به بیماریهای کلیوی

Quantitation of urinary protein excretion is important for diagnostic and prognostic purposes and to achieve the best treatment. The method most commonly used to measure urinary protein in 24 hour urine samples, are time consuming and often inaccurate. This study performed on 101 persons. Urine samples were collected three times aday. The protein/creatinine ratio(mg:mg) was measured and c...

ارزش تشخیصی نسبت پروتئین به کراتینین نمونه‌ی ادرار تصادفی در بیماران مشکوک به پره اکلامپسی

Background and Objective: Pre-eclampsia is the most serious disease in high-risk pregnancies affecting women and their fetus which may be associated with severe maternal-fetal problems and even death. The symptoms of this disease are high blood pressure and proteinuria. Prompt diagnosis of the disease can be particularly important in preventing or minimizing the effects on the mother and the fe...

Correlation of random urine protein creatinine (P-C) ratio with 24-hour urine protein and P-C ratio, based on physical activity: a pilot study

Quantification of proteinuria is usually predicated upon 24-hour urine collection. Multiple factors influence urine collection and the rate of protein and creatinine excretion. Urine collection is often incomplete, and therefore creatinine and protein excretion rates are underestimated. A random urine protein-creatinine (P-C) ratio has been shown over the years to be a reliable alternative to t...

Random urine protein creatinine ratio as a preadmission test in hypertensive pregnancies with urinary protein creatinine ratio.

UNLABELLED To evaluate the value of random urinary protein creatinine ratio in prediction of 24h proteinuria in hypertensive pregnancies. METHOD Random urine samples and routine 24h urine collections were collected from hypertensive pregnant women (n=100). Reliability of random urinary protein-creatinine ratio was assessed by receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve to detect significant ...
